This Little Piggy Hits the Road-First Stop: Seattle, WA

Thanks to Shannon who let This Little Piggy tag along on her Komen 3-Day for the Cure in Seattle. Here is an account of their 3-Days together:

On Sept 24-26, 2010 This Little Piggy walked in Seattle, WA during the Susan G Komen for the Cure 3-Day.  The night before he stayed in the hotel with his walker, Shannon.  He loved it!
The next morning Shannon and This Little Piggy woke up early to catch the shuttle bus at 5 am to go to opening ceremories.  There he enjoyed meeting lots of new friends and got excited to start the amazing journey of walking 60 miles in 3 days!

Day one was cloudy with alittle bit of rain.  At lunch that day This Little Piggy decided that he ate too much and needed a break and asked if he could take a nap in the fanny bag of Shannon's.  Of course, Shannon said "Yes".

After walking 22.5 miles that day, they made it into camp for dinner, hot shower and bed.  It was a long day, so both were very tired and went to bed early-9 pm.  The next day, they woke up early-5 am to start the day off by walking 21.5 miles!  The sun was out and it was a beautiful morning.  This Little Piggy enjoyed the beautiful walk and made it to lunch to meet up with some of Shannon's friends who were there to cheer her on and bring her yummy pizza for lunch.

During lunch Shannon had to go to the Medical tent for her many blisters on her feet and was told she could not walk the rest of the day and had to take the bus to camp.  Boy was Shannon unhappy! Lots of tears and a few minutes later, they both were on the bus heading back to camp.  Once back at camp Shannon got to have a nice back and foot massage and This Little Piggy got to relax in the tent and take a little nap before dinner and a dance party.  Both Shannon and Piggy enjoyed dancing, even after not being able to walk the whole day!

After a nice night sleeping in the tent, both woke up to a downpour of rain to catch the bus for the start of Day 3! The start of Day 3 was very wet and rainy so Piggy got to stay dry under the rain ponchor, lucky piggy! The rain stopped half way through the day and Piggy got to enjoy the rest of the walk out in the fresh air and see the sites of downtown Seattle. After 15.2 miles of walking, Shannon and Piggy made it to closing ceremories for cheering, laughter and tears! The whole weekend was wonderful, amazing journey and Shannon and Piggy made lots of new friends and had a great time.
