Pink Glove Dance

If you haven't seen or heard of the pink glove dance, I guess you've been off the planet for the past couple of months. Let me get you up to date.
The video showcases more than 200 hospital workers from Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR dancing in Medline's pink gloves. It became a YouTube phenom and has been seen by over 500 million people. The YouTube video has been featured on CNN, ABC, Fox and many other local stations across the country.
I am proud to say my husband works for Medline. When someone purchases the Generation Pink Gloves, Medline donates a portion of the proceeds to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to fund free mammograms for women who cannot afford them.

Team Piggy '09 That's a wrap!

Wow! It came and went so fast. We fundraised, we trained (a little) and we walked. Was the 2009 Breast Cancer 3-Day everything I'd hoped? So much and more! As a team we raised....drum roll, please....$14,495.61! Truly amazing! Thank you to everyone who helped us make our goals. We appreciate every dollar that was donated, every item that was donated for our garage sale and online auction and we appreciate every hug and word of encouragement you gave us along the way.

Team Piggy '09 will go down in history as a team of six. My sister in law, Debbi, the veteran who is a wonderful leader. Her niece, Caiti, who as the youngest, kept us smiling the entire time. And my wonderful aunt and cousins. Judy, Stephanie and April. I am so glad we shared the 3-Day experience together. For me....it was a wonderful time to reflect. Along the route there were small reminders of mom. Little things that would randomly "show up" so I knew she was with me. Check out the video of Team Piggy at the 2009 San Diego Breast Cancer 3-Day:

Walking because everyone deserves a lifetime.....

A lifetime for themselves, aunts, sisters, grandmothers, cousins, daughters and mothers. Don't forget to check out our personal sites to see why we walk.

ONLY 3 DAYS UNTIL OPENING CEREMONIES!
We've completed our fundraising, watched the safety video and completed online check in. We even received our tent assignments. The only thing left to do is wait, wait, wait.
Last weekend we walked 10 miles together (minus Caiti). :( It was fun. We walked out to Antelope Island. We saw lots of birds and even buffalo!

San Diego in our sights!
Wow! In less than a week we will be walking in sunny (hopefully) San Diego. We will be among approximately 3,000 others who walk for themselves, a lost loved one, or simply "just because."

There has been a lot of talk lately about the "just because" walkers. These are the walkers who don't know anyone personally who have been affected by breast cancer, but in the basic of terms, they walk because they DON'T want to know anyone.

With San Diego right around the corner, I can hardly contain myself. The 3-Day bug has bitten. 3-Days to be with my family and new friends sharing laughter, tears and of course, showers. :) 3-Days to be alone with my thoughts--and I will do a lot of thinking and a lot of remembering. Remembering my mom. Remembering what a beautiful person she was. Remembering her laugh, her smile and everything about her.

It will be 3-Days of celebration of the life my sister in-law, Debbi has, as well as my two young cousins.

Fundraising Update
Everyone made their minimums to walk. As a we team we raised over $14,000. Holy crap! I don't care who are....that is a lot of money! We could not have raised $1 without you. All that money will go to breast cancer research, screening and treatment. Thank you so much for your support.
